A member of Boko-Haram by name Haruna Yahaya has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment on terrorism offenses.
He was said to have been engaged in the group attack and abduction of Chibok Girls in Chibok and Gabsuri town in year 2014. He was convicted by a High Court sitting in Wawa Cantonment, Kainji, Niger State.
The 35year old pleaded guilty to the two-count charges against him by the Federal Government. He pleaded for mercy, saying that it wasn’t intentional because he was forced to be involved in the terror act.
He was crippled in his leg and left arms and had been in detention since 2015
The court said the convict was “using the misfortune of his handicap to draw sympathy”. The court ruled that the convict serves 15years imprisonment and that his sentence should begin on Monday.
