Facebook to launch TV in mid-August

Facebook Inc is ready to launch its version of television sometime in mid-August, as reported.

The Facebook partners are claiming to have finished some short-form less expensive programs as the company seeks its partners to commence the first series of their spotlight show.

The innovation was expected about one month ago but it has been in anticipation since and more delay could occur, the FB partners indicated.

An anonymous source said Facebook is also funding higher-end TV-style shows, which will be launched later on the site, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans aren’t public, reports my News star.

With Facebook looking farther than YouTube, the new video section will present the social network platform to over 2 billion users with scripted and unique user content. The company said it is not in competition with video producers such as Netflix, HBO and Showtime.

Facebook has hired the services of former TV and media executives to oversee its charge into original video and continues the team expansion.
