George Weah wins at the Liberia presidential polls

George Weah remained the first and only African player to win the Ballon d’Or and World footballer of the year and also the first footballer to be elected as the President of a nation.

Weah emerges as the successor of Elen Johnson Sirleaf as the President of Liberia.

George Weah defeated the incumbent Vice President, Joseph Boakai, his closest rival.

Others include longtime opposition figure Charles Brumskine and former Coca-Cola executive, Alexander Cummings.
