Islamic State claims responsibility for Las Vegas mass shooting

The highly dreaded Islamic State group on Monday claimed responsibility for the mass shooting in Las Vegas which was carried out by one of its “soldiers”.

As reported by AFP that the Islamic State said the soldier had “converted to Islam several months ago”.

“The executor of the Las Vegas attack is a soldier of the Islamic State and he carried out the operation as a response” to calls to target countries engaged in military action against the jihadists, IS’s propaganda outlet Amaq said in online statements.

Meanwhile, the dreaded group provides no evidence to back up its claim of the incidence.

The incident which leaves at least 50 dead and more than 200 others injured near the Las Vegas Mandalay Bay hotel, as updated at a press conference by the Police.

Sherriff Joe Lombardo said the main suspect started firing an automatic rifle from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel at 10:08 pm (0708 GMT) at a crowd of people watching an outdoor music festival during a performance by country singer Jason Aldean.

He said the shots continued for more than a minute, with hundreds of people taking cover and trying to escape the scene.

The perpetrator was shot and killed by police in the hotel room shortly afterward, Lombardo added.
