As the January transfer window opened Manchester city were the first club to show interest in buying Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal FC. But things changed as Manchester city’s rival Manchester United also came to the table and showed interest in the 29-year-old.
The both Manchester club continue to push the deal but in the long run, it seems one wanted it more than the other.
United were willing to offer huge financial package, committing £180million over 4.5 years to tempt the Chilean to Old Trafford
Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager said that the deal to sell Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United is “likely to happen” as the Gunners took unprecedented steps in the final stages of the negotiations.
“I’ve worked on transfers for 30 years, so it is likely to happen. But at any moment, at any minute, things can break down,” Wenger said.
“It’s the deadline now. I left him out at Bournemouth because I was scared that the transfer would happen before we played Bournemouth.
“It was already quite advanced so I didn’t want to be in the position where I tried with him and he has to go back, so he doesn’t play.
“It’s now in the next 24 to 48 hours that it will happen or not.”
It would just be a matter of hours for you to see Alexis Sanchez in the Manchester United’s jersey.
