Two teenagers in Ekiti State, Olajire Ayomide, 18, and Tope Owoeye, 19, has been remanded in Prison.
An Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court ordered their remand over an alleged rape of a 14-year-old on February 8, at Afao Street, Ikere-Ekiti.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Johnson Okuade, revealed to the Court that the 14-year-old girl, leading to her admission to the hospital.
He noted that the two teenagers approached the 14-year-old girl but she refused their proposal and they later approached her at a river bank and raped her.
The Prosecutor said the offense contravenes section 516(31) of the Child Rights Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
He said the case file had been duplicated and sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, for legal advice.
The defense counsel, Mr. Emmanuel Sumonu requested for an adjournment till the issuance of legal advice from the DPP.
The Chief Magistrate, Aderopo Adegboye, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison until the outcome of the DPP’s legal advice.
He adjourned the case till Friday for further hearing.
