The US Secretary of State, Mr Rex Tillerson, is set to arrive Nigeria on Monday, for his first official visit to the country.
For his first official visit, Mr Rex Tillerson, Secretary of state will be arriving Nigeria today.
Following a press report from US embassy, Mr Rex Tillerson has been on a week-long tour to Africa and will hold talks with President Buhari on counterterrorism efforts and humanitarian issues in Nigeria’s Northeast and the Lake Chad basin on Tuesday.
Tillerson arrival will make him become the highest ranking official in the Trump administration to visit Nigeria.
At the Presidential Villa on Tuesday by 11.45am, the secretary is will be holding a press conference.
The embassy made known that Geoffrey Onyeama, Minister of Foreign Affairs is likely to join Tillerson
Few days after announcing the new $533m aid package for Africa, out of which $128m was earmarked for Nigeria and countries of the Lake Chad region he explores the Horn of Africa.
Through his visit and conversation with the president, he will also discuss how to precede peace and security, aid good governance, and encourage mutually beneficial trade and investment with the president
Expected of him is to also meet with US Embassy personnel and participate in events associated with US government-supported activities.
