Early Tuesday morning the secretariat of Akure South Local Government was scanty as at 8:30am as workers were nowhere to be found.
This morning, some group of Fulani herdsmen mobilized themselves with arms and charms to the Akure secretariat; they were decorated with cutlasses, knives and other dangerous weapons. When at the sight of these council workers of the secretariat fled for their lives deserting the premises. Couples and their families who had fixed wedding ceremony for the day also fled the registry arena for fear of being attacked by the angry mob.
Eye-witnesses claimed that the herdsmen pursued worker of the secretariat and other staffs who took to their heels and abandoned their duties for the day. One of the staff claimed that he had conflict with one of the herdsmen who grazed his farmland early that morning.
However it was said that the attitude of the herdsmen was as a result of their discernment and perceived maltreatment from indigenes of the locale against their kinsmen and cattle. The said herdsmen were later dispelled by the State Police, Akure area command who reinstated order in the area
